Our Founding Donor

When Maryland Conservatory of Music was just a vision and idea, Mrs. Katherine J. Reese embraced the notion of a quality music conservatory in Harford County with excitement. Without her generosity and faith, Maryland Conservatory of Music would not exist today.
Funding
The Maryland Conservatory of Music is a non-profit organization as classified under the IRS code 501(c)(3). Fund raising is a major aspect of the conservatory's budget. Grants and donations from government, foundations, corporations, and private citizens comprise our fund raising revenue.

Gifts in kind for services and capital items will also be pursued. For services, we will be looking for assistance in accounting, legal expertise, marketing, insurance, etc.. For capital items we are looking for musical instruments (pianos, percussion instruments, stringed instruments, winds, brass, keyboards, etc.), office equipment (chairs, desks, computers, fax machines, copiers, etc.), teaching needs (white boards, music recording and playback systems, video recording and playback systems, chairs, desks, etc.).

Tuition will also provide a large part of our budget resources. Over the first five year period (2002-2007), it is forecasted that the portion of the General Operations budget covered by tuition will grow from 20% to 80%. We plan to develop an endowment to secure the conservatory's future.
